I find that it improves my attitude when I am pleasant to the people on the phone. Particularly when I am very pissed off. Recognizing that that person is not the creator of my distress - only the messenger to convey my unhappiness - helps me cool down while articulating my distress.
My word for the year I painted on a rock. “Patience.”
Some days I feel my patience muscle needs more exercising than on other days. And I find myself muttering under my breath... Patience, Patience! PATIENCE DAMMIT! I have to remind myself this kind of political tripe falls under the heading of; “These things I have no control over.”
Fortunately I am home alone most of the time, so I have the option of pivoting and getting into something that doesn’t require taking chewable enzymes for my stomach. I can just close out the news from my laptop and start a new postcard watercolor painting.

Thank god for creativity and chocolate!

Or eat a piece of chocolate.
