Tidbits from the universe
Hey friends,
Nothing wanted to come together today as a full offering. In its place, I offer you some favorite tidbits.
My strategist is the the universe, and I am often not subject to her streams of thought until I'm swimming in them. That's when looking out the front window at the trees becomes paramount. And, of course, a diet Dr. Pepper. Admittedly, I’m not a religious institutionalist, but if a Church of Diet Dr. Pepper existed, I’d be a frequent walk-in.
From the late John Hope Franklin, an esteemed African-American historian, who taught at Duke University. From his obituary: “John Hope Franklin looked at those who opposed him and saw fellow human beings.”
Don’t we all indulge in really tempting activities, knowing they might still leave a bruise on our soul, heart, or whatever’s deepest within us? “We the People" seem to have forgotten how to treat one another like, well, people.”
Let THAT kid out!!
Huh? What kid?
That little kid in each of us who grew up making funny faces, weird noises and dancing around unselfconsciously, and on and on. An exhilarating freedom of personal expression, filled with magic and wonder. Can you remember how that felt?
Um…maybe you’ve forgotten about him, her, or them?
Ominous drum roll. You begin to grow up and are told “PUT AWAY CHILDISH THINGS!” Adults don’t do things like that. Wait, wait, that child, that beloved “little creative you” goes into the closet (never to emerge again??)
Balderdash. Double balderdash!
See you on Sunday evening….
